UMY Scholarships

UMY offers a wide range of scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. This scholarship is available to international students, with options based on merit, affiliation, and financial need.

Scholarship Categories

1. UMY Internal Scholarships

a. Muhammadiyah Cadre Scholarship

• Target: Active Muhammadiyah members
• Benefits:
  • Full tuition (SPP) waiver
  • Educational development fund (DPP) waiver
• Duration: up to 3 semesters (Master) / 7 semesters (Doctoral)
• Requirements:
  • GPA ≥ 3.75
  • TOEFL ≥ 500 or IELTS ≥ 6.0
  • Muhammadiyah membership proof (NBM)
  • Active role in Muhammadiyah/Ortom with recommendation

b. UMY Alumni Scholarship

• Target: UMY graduates continuing their studies at UMY
• Benefits: Tuition and development fee waiver
• Programs Covered: Same 12 postgraduate programs as Muhammadiyah Cadre Scholarship

c. Achievement-Based Scholarship (Prestasi)

• Target: New students with exceptional academic or non-academic achievements
• Benefits: Full tuition and development fund waiver
• Duration: 3 semesters (Master) / 7 semesters (Doctoral)
• Requirements:
  • GPA ≥ 3.75
  • TOEFL ≥ 500 or IELTS ≥ 6.0
  • Proof of international/national achievements within the last year

2. International Scholarships

a. UMY International Student Scholarships

• Target: International students (S1, S2, S3)
• Benefits:
  • Full tuition fee
  • Living allowance
  • Dormitory accommodation
  • Minor Health Treatment
  • Indonesian Language Course (BIPA)
• Monthly Stipends:
  • Undergraduate: IDR 1,850,000
  • Master’s: IDR 2,350,000
  • Doctoral: IDR 2,600,000
• Duration:
  • Undergraduate: 4 years
  • Master’s: 2 years
  • Doctoral: 4 years
• Conditions: Academic performance reviewed every semester; GPA must be maintained

3. External Partner Scholarships

a. PT Adaro Scholarship

• Funded by PT Adaro Indonesia
• Typically supports engineering and science-related studies
• Covers tuition and may include living costs

b. LazisMU Scholarship

• Funded by Lazis Muhammadiyah (Zakat-based organization)
• Aimed at students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds
• Covers tuition and/or living support
